Hindu Nationalism

I have been checking out some India-centric blogs, and came across some Hindu Nationalistic blogs. First things first, being a Hindu myself, I consider this kind of thinking fairly inconsequential. I have many Muslim friends, and I don't, necessarily, wish any harm upon them. And, of course, Hindu nationalists are a bunch of stupid people. However, Hindu nationalism, is not a moot issue. We need to consider the political implications Hindu Nationalism could have.

Should secular-liberals use Hindu nationalism gain/maintain political dominance? If you have moral issues- click the x at the top of the window. The truth is, elites don't decide elections in India, the masses do. And if the masses ever turn HN - it would have implications for all of us. Suppose they vote in some numbskull who brings back Swadeshi-style-protectionism, and the slew of bad-economics it entails? We'd suffer and so would India. All I'm saying secular-liberals need to know about Hindu Nationalism, is that, if ever it is the ticket to winning elections in India, we shouldn't be above getting it. Hindu Nationalism is not a moot issue in India.

Of course with the Congress in power all this is irrelevant. But if Hindu Nationalism does make a comeback, as I have a feeling it will, this might come up again.

So that is all about Hindu Nationalist blogs, Hindu Nationalistic thinking, and Hindu nationalists. buncha stupid people, more on the need for group-belonging later.
